Sorrow

IMG_0086

Because I could not look on Sorrow, he dug deep into my flanks.
And unlike Anger, with whom I can talk, I feared to let him out.
I feared the animal sound, the uncontrollable sobbing.
But I could not hold him down in the empty hollow of my gut.
And so here sits sorrow.
Quieter that he was.
But still naked and broken-
And crying for the mercy of God.
